We are a group of clever people, if ever there was one, so we should come up with a good name for this thing, something that sets a tone. I'm horrible at coming up with names on my own, but with a group, I think we'll all feed off each other nicely.
So, first suggestion?

This is lame, but I just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of suggestions. It's too hot here to be smart right now.
I wanted to say that I think all of the pan-blog posts have been great to read, and they bring back vivid memories, even though I probably won’t document one.
In a comment you made on another post (I don’t remember which) you said that your atheism has grown out of the experience of reading books. My experience has been the same. Dawkins, Dennett, Harris, Behe…Behe? Yes, he has a new one out, *The Edge of Evolution: The Search for the Limits of Darwinism*. Life just wouldn’t be as fun without books like this.
As for a title, I’ve been toying with a phrase for my own blog, but I don’t think I’ll use it. Sub-sub-librarian comes from the beginning of Moby Dick. My wife just read it and she loves it when Ahab says, “What say ye, pagans?”

Both Ben Franklin-related. I saw a guy with a Ben Franklin bag today, and his face was rendered so that it looked like those red Che Guevera shirts all of the teens are wearing. Franklin's been on the mind lately.
I actually like sub-sub's idea best, though.
I would be interested in knowing if there is a particular theme or structuring idea for the blog.
We could have a rolling theme, of course. But, perhaps structure the discourse around, say, current controversial issues. This way the theme changes; but, each contributor takes a stance on an issue.
Just a thought.
Also, I like thecrazydreamer's implied suggestion for a blog devoted to pants. I mean, that could be good. We could explore environmental, cultural, fashion and labor issues.
I'm sorry I'm being so blank on this one. I say, thecrazydreamer, set it up with the URL you suggested because it makes the most sense and then we can continue to discuss a regular title over the next few days.

I do like the "What say ye, pagans?" idea. Very good. Also like the Ben Franklin ideas, and know that thecrazydreamer would, too.
I also like thecrazydreamer's idea of making the address pan-blog.blogspot.com and then changing the title when we feel like it. (Slightly annoying is the fact that the same url without the hyphen is a random hispanic person's blog - not used since 2004.)

vennblog.blogspot.com (or vennbloggers) - as in, we all overlap in some areas but have ideas of our own, like a Venn diagram; but maybe this sounds a little too math-y

it seems likely i'll have to choose a temporary name tomorrow when i make this thing. I'll probably choose pan-blog or pants-blog as a temporary option... or if it feels like a consensus is starting to be formed around any of these names, i may just jump the gun and choose it, and then we can extend the conversation over whether to keep it or not onto the new blog.

soulandmeat is by far my favorite. pan-blog is okay, but it's a little too generic, and the fact that someone else has a similar version is annoying.
soulandmeat comes from Bluebeard and after searching forever on the tubes I finally found the actual reference at wikiquote (I love all of the side wiki projects).
